  • Despite the rumors here in America Ukraine isn't just winter all year round but has four seasons with summer temperatures averaging in the 70's and 80's.

  • The national currency is the hryvnia.

  • Ukraine is located in Eastern Europe and borders Russia, Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, and the Black Sea.

  • Ukraine was declared independent in 1991 and is currently at the most critical point in its modern history.

  • During 2013-2014 for 93 days straight peope of Ukraine protested after Yanukovych, the preseident at the time, refused to sign an agreement with the European Union but instead chose to create closer ties with Russia.

  • .​Ukrainian is the official language and while it is used most often in western Ukraine and smaller towns, Russian is the primary language spoken by many people in large cities, particularly in the east and south.
