An outline of Ukraine in the Ukrainian flags color

About this Site

The purpose of this blog is to share my experience in the Peace Corps and Ukraine, and also to help those at home understand what life is like in another culture.  It is also to share what service is like in the Peace Corps (so if you ever have any questions about culture or life in Ukraine or any part of the Peace Corps process shoot me an email.)

You're probably wondering why Land on the Edge?  As I started preparing for my time in Ukaine I wanted to learn as much as I could about this country that I knew so little about. During my research I stumbled upon many meanings of 'Ukraine.' It derives from the Slavic word "kraj" meaning "land" or "border" and many mainstream interpretations define it as "borderland." I have always loved Lonely Planet books so I was super excited when my awesome cousins got me the Eastern Europe edition.  In the book it describes how Ukraine means "land on the edge" which sounded like a perfect fit for my blog title.
