About Peace Corps Ukraine
The formal agreement establishing Peace Corps/Ukraine was signed in May 1992 and since then more than 2,750 volunteers have served teaching english, youth and community development, environmental protection, and business development. About 10% of all Peace Corps Volunteers volunteer in Eastern Europe (Albania, Georgia, Armenia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Kyrgyz Republic, and Ukraine). During the "Revolution of Dignity" at the end of 2013 and early 2014 all Peace Corps Volunteers from Ukraine were evacuated. I believe now more than anytime in the past 24 years is Peace Corps in the position to play a role at assiting a nation that has called for help.
The program I will be apart of is the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). "Volunteers in the TEFL project work to expand and improve the quality of English instruction in schools, pedagogical colleges, and universities."
